It was a new moon tonight. Thank the stars. The newly formed empire was already wrought with troubles and if found out, the emperor missing from the territories even for a small time could have unwanted effects. Despite the troubles, Zefirino had felt this particular brief venture of importance, for more than mere personal reasons. The recent visitor Anara more than drew his curiosity. His mind was in a torrent. Could she really be Lunara? But more than that... she had left a bitter taste on more than a few of the gathered counsel previously, and the elders were concerned about her welcome in the territories. Whether she liked it or not, and whether their decision was the right one or not, she had violated their trust and ultimately, it was on their shoulders that matters of the pack rested.
Zefirino released a sigh as his paws tread over the grassy slopes. From their encounter in the forest, he knew he needed to seek Vyrn to learn more and perhaps to even put his mind at ease. Even for a time. As elusive as the elder wolf could be, Zefirino had learned much of him through their time fighting together, and despite Vyrn's insistence on remaining outside of the pack, he had already inserted himself in the situation. Plus, if she really were a new Lunara, Zef suspected Vyrn would have a somewhat different demeanor.
He was prepared.
The dark wolf slowed his step as he approached one particularly low hill-top. The wildflowers danced around his paws gently and he lifted his nose to distinguish between their scent and anything else that might be around. He was all too familiar with Vyrn's typical methods of coming and going. And even in a place like this, he knew with how dark it was, Vyrn could show up out of nowhere.
He sat, brilliant blue eyes gazing forward. He didn't have much time, but he intended to make it count.

"Emperor Zefirino."
Vyrn's low rumble came from behind and to the left of the young ruler, eminating from a swirling cloud of black mist that seemed to have appeared from nowhere. Glowing, cat-like emerald eyes were visible from within the shadowy mass, as was often the case when the elder wreathed himself in darkness, but they also seemed rather... irritated. His voice, too, held a hint of irritation; the sort of pacient annoyance that a parent might have when a pup insists on showing them something, but refuses to say beforehand what it actually is.
"Your message was even more infuriatingly vague than the ones I have received of late from Anara. You had best have a good reason for sommoning me here, outside of either of our realms of influence, and for not having a proper escort with you."

The dark wolf's ears flicked at the familiar sound of Vyrn's voice and he turned, recoginizing what he could see of the other wolf. He smiled deftly toward the other at his comment of irritation. "Yes, this matter is rather secretive and of utmost importance. It's also rather secretive. I trust you discernment, particularly in this matter." He paused, glancing around slowly, and then focusing once more on the other.
"I come concerning Anara herself. I am anxious. She has crossed certain boundaries and her welcome within the borders is quickly waning. Is she truly, Lunara, Vyrn? And further, do you know what happened? I must know everything you can offer." He felt it was the only way to come to the appropriate decision, though he kept that thought to himself for the moment. He only hoped Vyrn could see his sincerity. And he wondered how much Vyrn actually knew. Regardless of if his knowledge was vast or limited, he was determined to learn.

"I understand your need of secrecy, Zefirino, but under the circumstances security is more important."
The black mists swirled forward, enveloping the young emperor until the only thing visible was Vyrn's green, cat-like gaze.
"As for your question... It is complicated. Anara is my daughter, yes, but I do not think she is still Lunara. Something, some event, changed her, and I do not mean the awakening of her Shal'Dranic blood." The eyes narrowed, drawing closer until it seemed that the dark wolf they belonged to should be close enough to touch. "Your council is right to be wary of her, Zefirino. Anara is up to something."

Zefirino met Vyrn's green eyes with his own squarely and firmly. "True enough," was all he said on the matter of security. From the other wolf's tone, he couldn't know for certain if he were indicating the fact he was here alone, or if he was implying Anara - the reason they were here. Either way, he dismissed it quickly. He had already made that call by coming.
As Vyrn answered him, he nodded. Somehow, he felt a bit relieved. There were still countless more questions, but perhaps only Anara truly knew those answers. For now, this was enough. He could deal with her appropriately without letting emotions cloud his judgment. He had to. "Thank you," he said to his once-companion. He trusted that if Vyrn had more to say, he would do so. In truth, he had hoped the other would offer more, but he would take the warning seriously. And even more troubling was that Anara already had a welcome - for the time being, though of course it could be renounced at a moment's notice.
With that, he spread his wings, preparing to return home.

"If you intend to confront Anara about this, I would suggest looking on Myoujou Island. Do not go alone."
The dark cloud swirled as the black Dire emerged from it's depths, shadowy mists trailing from his pelt.
"Events have been set in motion, Zefirino. Eveņ̴̨̛̣͚͉͕̝̲̪̯̣̆̐͛͗̐͌͆̾̈̀ts that you, and those close to you, will be at the center of. Be careful who you trust, and you make an enemy of."
As he spoke, for the briefest fraction of an instant reality seemed to warp and fracture. In that sliver of a moment, Vyrn seemed to be almost an illusion, projected from everywhere and nowhere in a way that was so incomprehensible that it was physically painful to look at. Then existence snapped back into place and everything was normal again, as if nothing had happened.

Zefirino frowned, more to himself than anything. Vyrn was right. He could sense it within his very being. Something was at play and while whatever foe they faced next seemed content to hide in the shadows and play games, he was ready to pull more from the shadows.
Yes, it was imperative that they band together, take precautions, and be prepared. As the vision of reality bent and warped, he looked towards the earth instead of trying to focus on the other - as it would've been impossible anyway. Every word Vyrn spoke resonated, imprinting on his mind and memory. As soon as everything once more was normal in appearance, Zef once more looked to the other's eyes.
He nodded, showing both his understanding and his gratitude to the other. Even as they spoke, he knew he needed to return and quickly. This was certainly not the last they would see of each other, he knew. He dipped his head in a farewell and then burst skyward, flapping his wings powerfully as he made his way back to the empire lands.
