A swift, frigid wind woke Phantom from her slumber. Tonight was a dark night, with barely a sliver of moon in the sky to light the way. Not that she needed it. Her abilities allowed her to see better at night than most. It took no time for her eyes to adjust as she uncurled herself and got up to stretch and shake off the dust from her fur. Careful not to disturb the other sleeping wolves, she made her way outside into the darkness. She had adapted the role of Sitter after spending time with her friend Antarctica. Not sure what else to do with herself, and wanting to be useful to the pack, she followed in her friends paw steps and assisted with the pups, elders, and anyone else in need.
She took a deep breath, taking a quick survey of the area. Not many wolves were out this late. But nowadays she preferred that. Since the packs had combined, many new faces had appeared. Despite that, Phantom found herself more alone than ever. Antarctica was busy most days and Mal.. She had finally accepted that he was gone, but it didn’t make it hurt any less. He often visited her dreams, and many things reminded her of him. Including the sun and light of day, which is why she has taken to the night. Not to mention her gifts are based on shadows and darkness. Ironic that her mate had been the opposite; the light to her shadows.
She shook herself from her thoughts and carried on her way. With the majority of the pack asleep it did not take her long to check on the needs of those awake. Once she made her round, she silently slipped into the surrounding forest. With no destination in mind, she let her mind drift as she let her paws take her through the trees.OoC: Anyone is welcome to join! I am excited to RP again :3 ~ I have also updated Phantom's Bio: Phantom

Akralara narrowed her eyes, focusing in on her prey. They hadn't noticed her yet; the wind was in her favor, and her mottled grey-brown pelt kept her hidden from sight in the undergrowth. She knew she probably shouldn't be hunting here, not this deep into the main territory, but to hell with it. She was hungry, and this is where the herds were.
An ear flicked, and her prey looked towards her.
She tensed...
It looked away...
Hab dich...*
She lunged. The distance was covered before the prey could react, thirty feet and half a ton of muscle, bone, and sinew striking like a battering ram. Her jaws slammed shut around the deer's neck, crushing it as her momentum took them both through a stand of rotted trees, splinters and dirt flying as she skidded to a stop.
"Wunderbar. Ich werde wochenlang Dreck aus meinen Federkielen schütteln."**
It wasn't until she opened her eyes again that she realized she was face to face with an unfamiliar wolf.
"Äh... Hallo?"***
Translations; *Got you... **"Wonderful. I'll be shaking dirt out of my quills for weeks." ***Uh... Hi?

Phantom was lost in thought on her nightly stroll. Perhaps not as alert as she should have been, but she had learned these woods well over the past few years. A soft wind ruffled her fur and rustled the flora around her, bringing with it the scents of prey that were out at this time of night. Squirrels, owls, mice, and even a small herd of deer not too far off. But she didn’t bother pursuing a meal. She had no interest in eating or dragging anything back right now. Perhaps she could catch a rabbit or two on her way back.
Her long legs continued through the woods, and before she knew it she could see the herd of deer in the not too far from her. She had kept quiet and within the shadows of trees, so they had not noticed her. She paused to watch them as they grazed in a small clearing. As she was positioning herself behind a fallen tree when a few of the deer perked up, alerting to something. But not to her, something on the opposite side of the clearing. After a moment they seemed to disregard what had caught their attention, returning to the grass. But before she could react, something charged into the clearing. A wolf, she thought. Yet as her eyes focused on the creature she soon came to the conclusion that it was not a wolf. And whatever it was, it was huge and hungry.
She was frozen in place as she took in this large creature as it swiftly pounced and caught its prey. Then, in the blink of an eye, they both came barreling towards her. As quickly as she could, she leapt out of their trajectory. Thankfully she managed to move out of the way as the creature crashed with its prey into the old rotten trees where she has just been standing.
Dirt and debris were flung into the air, and it wasn't until it had settled that Phantom realized how close she was to the creature. From here it was apparent that it was not a wolf, and only shared some characteristics. As wolves go, Phantom was on the taller end, yet this thing was at least a head taller than her. Not to mention twice her length with an even larger tail trailing behind it. It had what appeared to be quills, not unlike a porcupine, along its body, and this close up she could see two reptilian eyes staring back at her.
Phantom hadn’t realized she has been holding her breath until she shakily let it go. In fact, she hadn’t moved an inch in the moments since she was nose to nose with this creature. She was vaguely aware of of it speaking, but all her senses were screaming at her, telling her to run, and she couldn’t make out what it was. For all she knew it could be picking it’s next meal.
It took a moment for her to clear her head of the blind panic, and when she did, Phantom let her powers take over. Within an instant she let the darkness of her abilities devour her, using the already dark night to help cover herself in shadows. Unfortunately her abilities did not mask sound, so she stayed where she was. A few feet away, she created a shadow of herself to the best of her ability. Phantom thanked the gods that she had spent many moons working on her abilities and could use the trick of the shadows to create finer details than before. It wasn’t perfect by any means, she just hoped it was enough to distract the creature so she could make her escape.
Her panic began to rise, and without even waiting to see if the creature had fallen for her ruse, she bolted. Taking off into the woods with all her might, she didn’t know where she was headed. Only that she could lead this thing back to her pack.

Akralara's eyes widened as the female wolf bolted. The deer forgotten, she scrambled to her paws and took off after her. Curse it, she could not afford to be chased out of the Mainlands again. Not with the herds avoiding Drackeep this season.
"Jagdschwester, warte! Stoppen!"*
A frustrated growl escaped her as she barreled through the undergrowth. The dense foliage was hampering her speed, preventing her from closing the distance on the female.
Translation: *Hunt-sister, wait! Stop!
