Sub-races are a way to describe mythological or supernatural creatures. They are a race that can exist across numerous different types of species, such as vampires that are able to be wolves or humans.
Certain sub-races can be combined, for instance if a demon dies and becomes a ghost or an undead. Then the sub-race would simply be: demon/ghost or demon/undead.
Demon: Demons are beings with dark or ominous backgrounds typically resulting in creatures consumed totallly by evil. There are many types and a demon can be any race or form.
Celestial: Celestials are typically holy, winged creatures, sometimes mistaken for earth-bound angels because of their wings. Angels are included but a Celestial can also merely be a heavenly-maiden, a heavenly-warrior, or anything you can imagine.
Vampire: Vampires are creatures that have been brought from the grave back to life by another vampire. Though they are undead, they are capable of consciousness, logic, and even intelligent thought. They typically are able to pretend to be alive in order to lure victims. They avoid daylight since it can severely harm them to the point of death and they have fangs in order to survive on the blood of the living. (No Twilight vampires.)
Shapeshifter: Shapeshifters are creatures who can change their physical form at will into almost any other creature. Choose wisely though, as each form that a shapeshifter can change into takes up one of their spells; if they have magic at all. (Werewolves are grouped in with Shapeshifters. Just specify that they are werewolf).
Ghost: Ghosts are the wandering souls of those who've died. They do not have a physical form and often find it extremely difficult to communicate with the living.
Undead: Undead creatures are beings who've died and have somehow become re-animated. Often they are still rotting and missing key organs that allow them to operate as normal creatures. They may also be called zombies.
